Minutes of Community Council
March 19, 2009
Attending: Lisa Jensen, Linda Pattberg, Sherie Hislop , Kim McIntire, Paula Suarez and Mitch Swenson
Mitch: Proposed: we had $52,489, now we have only $36,876. No more high stakes toward Independence. Should we still have credit intervention at the same level we have. Can we reduce? Discussion of options.
English least needed because most students fail because they don't do reading log.
If history eliminated, then students could do it by the packet system in place.
Jensen: could one aide do both English and history?
_____: should we only keep math and science credit aides and use the rest of the money elsewhere.
Mitch: We may not be able to keep Mr. Austen as overseer/coordinator.

Mitch: math has additional days of AA. Perhaps boost the AA and cut the credit intervention. Money? Superintendent very open about money. Teacher quality money cut already. Nine teacher quality days and some paid by district. We don't know how many will be available. All teacher leader, specialist positions are gone because of the $70 million cut.

Discussion on what else the state has cut and how the Provo district and specifically this school will deal with it.
Mitch: it is given that there will be a reduction of TQ days. Class size reduction money continues at 100%.

Consensus of having 2 credit aides and one coordinator.
